  • Douzenier John Randell
‘It is with great sadness that the Constables and Douzaine of St Sampson must advise parishioners of the passing of serving Douzenier John Randall. John was elected as a Douzenier in November 2024 taking up his position with effect from 1st January last year. John was known to the majority of islanders through his work in local radio initially on Offshore Radio (RSL), Island FM and finally on BBC Radio Guernsey. John broadcast on BBC Radio Guernsey for in excess of 25 years and his voice was like that of a good family friend in countless homes. If anyone nervous was being interviewed on his show John had the gift of putting them at ease and making them feel that there was just the two of them in a room having a chat. A very gifted man and broadcaster. John was a larger-than-life character who was always willing to go the extra mile for his family, friends, charities, and the Guernsey community as a whole. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The Constables and Douzeniers of the parish extend their heartfelt sympathy and condolences to John’s family, friends, colleagues, former work mates and all who knew him at this very sad time.’
